Music & Lyrics by Mark Hollmann
Book and Lyrics by Greg Kotis

URINETOWN was produced on Broadway in September, 2001 by the Araca Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheaterDreams, Inc., and Lauren Mitchell

In a city where water is scarce and greed is in charge, even the most basic human need comes with a price.

After a decades-long drought, private toilets have been outlawed. Citizens must pay to use public facilities controlled by the powerful Urine Good Company. Anyone who breaks the rules is sent to the mysterious place no one wants to talk about: Urinetown.

When one young man decides enough is enough, a revolution begins. But in this world, heroes are complicated, villains sing, and even the narrator knows the title is a problem.

Bold, funny, and surprisingly smart, Urinetown is a sharp musical satire about power, privilege, rebellion, and what happens when public needs become private profit.
