In the early 1900s, Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory, where women are hired not to explore the stars, but to record the work of men who do. As part of a team of female "computers," Henrietta is expected to chart the skies without questioning what she sees. But in her free time, she begins to uncover a pattern in the light of distant stars that will forever change the way we understand the universe.
Based on a true story, Silent Sky follows Henrietta’s journey as she navigates scientific discovery, family responsibility, and the limitations placed on women of her time. With grace, humor, and resilience, she reaches for the stars while learning what it means to live fully here on Earth.
This inspiring and beautifully written play celebrates the quiet power of curiosity, the pursuit of knowledge, and the women who refused to be silenced.
